So, basically what I'm saying is im starting back at Dragon Dice, without a single dice to my name. And I thought, why not start off in Epic fashion. So...
I just won an auction on Ebay, One Sealed King Die and two Dragonslayers (the Ivory Kind). I figured if i was gonna start might as well start big! :)
Furthermore in my studies the past few days, and my history with Magic the gathering Ive come to see the King Die as the "The Black Lotus" of the Dragondice world / gauged off of power / rarity / price and what have you. Furthermore I've come to think of the Dragonslayers as Time Walk or Ancestral Recall of magic the gathering. So in my twisted view of the Power / scope of dice vs magic the gathering. My King / Dragonslayers vs Black Lotus and 2x Ancestrall Recall would have been like thousands of dollars, vs the 35$ i just paid for a king and the 3$ per Dragonslayer (if you count the price off the sfr-inc website (which i do and that's 3$ per Dragonslayer) Thats in incredible deal when you think about it.
So in my mind, when it comes in the mail to me it will be like opening my own Black Lotus. This king is even fresh in the wrap. Untouched by hands for years (since 1995) so it will be fresh. Could you ask for more? And try doing the same thing for the fabled Lotus. I just poked around the internet and found that a pack of Beta goes for 200~250$. So 200~250$ for a chance at a lotus, or 35$ for the lotus equivelient for dragon dice....
I am so freaking excited.
So i know, a King and 2 Dragonslayers, is nowhere near enough to play, but hold on i got some armies in the works. Just give me a few more days and I'll have a new post...
Thanks for reading!

So i guess I'd have to say my first encounter with Dragon Dice was when i was... whatever age I was in 1995~7? Because the First box I encountered was not the large "Battle Box" it was the Single player starter pack I believe (and please correct me If I'm wrong) It looked like this.
To be honest, I had no idea what to do with them. But I had a few D&D books, and this looked like what I needed / could use to make my stuff more complete. I believe at this point I had started playing Magic The Gathering as well. Furthermore, I later found a box of Firewalkers and purchased that as well. But with nobody to play with (i went to school in a very rural area) and still no idea of what to do with all of these interesting dice, they just hung there in their TSR bag and slowly faded out of my existence. As in, I don't know for the life of me what happened to them :(
Anyways, Recently I was sifting thru some old collectiables when I found an oldie / goodie.
It was a ramped version of that Banned Stroke of Genius / Tolarian academy / Artifact decks. But could wish and hand Force of Will's and the like. It was one of those First turn BOOM your dead decks. I showed it to many friends over the years but it just sat in its sleeves most of the time. And I had a deckmaster box for it. To be honest I was kinda suprised when a local store gave me 25~40% on all my cards in it when I sold it. I sold it because. Well, it wasnt fun for anyone else but me. Sure I won the first game with friends (some of them in out of the box or homebrew decks made at the casual player level) And I wanted something that would be fun for the several friends that I have that come over once a week or so.
So i turned to my past, and it hit me, Back when magic first started coming out there were several other games that tried really hard to compete with them many with great and origional ideas, but magic was just cheaper / easier to carry / easier to play / blah blah blah all the reasons that its around and these other games were not. Now im not saying they all were gems, but some were great. Now adding in my love for all things DND (a dm for 17 years now) the first thing that had dawned on me was..... SPELLFIRE!!!
Spellfire was a DND style card game of capture your fellows territories. And it used art from alot of the older TSR stuff that i remembered seeing when i was a kid. So i sold my Stroke of Genius deck and turned it into spellfire, and i thought it a decent trade. For my deck, i was able to aquire roughly 1/3 of the total cards for spellfire. Including chase and such. That being said my lovely wife also went in and got me a christmas gift of 4 more sets. And i was very happy. But I also was looking at the bill, and remembering the fresh still sting of the 25-40% worth that my cards had maintained from honestly fairly light use over the years. (if i played it over and over people would quit playing all together) and as i went to bust out my Spellfire cards for all to play with I suddenly found that I could not, and left them in their wrappers, these cards I had gotten "fresh from the pack" didnt even have fingerprints on them.
They then sit safely in a case atop the closet for some time...
Fustrated, because, A) I had told my friends of what fun we'd have playing this new game.
B) Because I had actually wanted to play.
C) Did some research and when you take a card from a pack, put it in a brand new sleeve and shuffle it for the first time, its value drops to 90% ... or less for you tough shufflers out there. Just in that first shuffle, and Worse if you sit there and play with it for a few hours.
So I was at a loss. And it hit me.... Dragon Dice, well...
So first I ilooked up A)How much they currently were (which I was astonished.....)
I found the price Incredibly fair, if not cheap even. 10 good Chessex dice will cost what 15$? and Here is 10 dice, that are part of a game that are 5~13$ a piece. Further more ive played with dice for years and years now. And have you ever seen a dice to wear? Like really wear thin?
So then, fastforward to now, Ive sold some of my Spellfire, and have been converting it to Dice.
